“IT’S a break of trust,” joked Dave Hughes on radio this morning after learning that his wife had snuck into his comedy show earlier this week in Melbourne without telling him.
Hughesy told 2Day FM’s breakfast show earlier today that he didn’t realise his wife was in the audience until he read about it on Twitter at 11pm last night.
Holly Ife, who’s been married to Hughes for seven years, went undercover at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and wrote a review of Hughesy’s comedy show for the Herald Sun .
“I slide into my seat just as he comes out on stage, but I’m up in the Dress Circle so there’s no way he can spot me,” Ife wrote.
The mother of three, who watches her husband perform about six times a year, is certain that Hughes would have left out some of his material had he known she was in the audience.
“I don’t remember him mentioning getting an erection on a massage table when I saw his act in Adelaide,” Ife wrote.

“And I doubt he would have complained plaintively about the fact that there was ‘not a lot of action going on’ in our bedroom if he’d known I was there.
“If this experience has taught me anything, it’s that I am a brilliant liar and could totally get away with having an affair.”
